We are looking for a highly motivated, professional individual to join our team as a Part Time Code Enforcement Officer.
Responsibilities:
Works independently to enforce borough zoning and property maintenance ordinances.
Regularly interacts with the public in person, over the phone and through written and electronic communications to educate and assist the public with a general understanding of zoning and property maintenance codes.
Upon receipt of complaints, inspects grounds, buildings and other property for validity of complaints.
Make further inspection of property to check on progress of work recommended, perform final inspection upon completion and issue occupancy permit.
Prepares Notices of Violation and/or Non-traffic Citations for infractions related to zoning and property maintenance.
Regularly appears in court and participates in the judicial process for violations related to zoning and property maintenance.
Ensures accurate record keeping and follow up on all notices issued by department and the judicial system.
Issues Septic System and Roll-off Dumpster Permits.
Issues zoning permits, interprets various building and general construction plans submitted by builders, contractors and others to determine conformity with zoning and other borough codes; inspects proposed site to determine if construction or use meets requirements of zoning ordinance.
Reviews development plans for conformance to zoning ordinance and other codes.
Duties require a general knowledge of design, building plans and ability to interpret technical codes and ordinances.
Required Skills:
Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
